For compensation of the soil structure, the measuring point is calibrated. The water content of the measurement location is frozen with liquid nitrogen and a reference measurement is taken. The dielectric constant changes from about 78 (water) to 3.1 (ice)
The necessary calculations, developed and patented by Research Center Karlsruhe, are done on a pc by means of an easy-to-use program.
